Two children — a girl with dimpled cheeks and a boy who became more handsome with age — once shared laughter, river murmurs, shooting stars, sweet apples, and childish dreams.

During vacations in their grandparents' village, they ran barefoot through the grass, bathed in Moldova river morning to evening, and believed that the world was infinite.

The boy always looked at her in silence, feeling something he didn't yet understand.

Then life separated them and they went their own way.

Twelve years passed… and fate, cunning and beautiful, brought them face to face again. In other lands, by other waters. Their gaze recognized something time itself could not forget: you can take the peasant out of the village, but you can't take the village out of the peasant.

 

They smiled like before—but they were no longer children.

They realized that their story did not end, but it was just beginning.

Today, they are not much different. She still carries herself graciosuly with her gentle and bashful smile, and he — just as annoying as before, but with the same big heart.
